300 Ton Marine Travel Lift Completes Installation and Commissioning

May 14, 2026

As the global yacht industry continues to move toward larger, more customized, and higher-end vessels, yacht manufacturing, launching, transportation, and maintenance are placing increasingly higher demands on specialized lifting equipment. As a key piece of equipment for yacht manufacturing and boatyard operations, a marine travel lift is responsible not only for lifting and transferring large vessels, but also plays a direct role in operational safety, hull protection, and overall yard efficiency.

Recently, a 300 ton marine travel lift custom-built by Haitai Heavy Industry for a customer completed full-machine installation and comprehensive commissioning at the Haitai Heavy Industry plant. The equipment is now ready for formal delivery and operation. The successful completion of this project further demonstrates Haitai Crane’s capabilities in the development, manufacturing, and customized engineering of large mobile lifting equipment, while providing a safer, more efficient, and more precise lifting solution for high-end yacht manufacturing and boatyard operations.

Customized Engineering to Address the Challenges of Large Yacht Handling

For high-end yachts, lifting is far more than simply raising and moving a vessel. Large luxury yachts are high-value assets with complex hull structures. During manufacturing, launching, maintenance, and relocation, lifting equipment must provide a high level of stability, positioning accuracy, and hull protection.

In demanding yacht-handling environments, conventional lifting equipment can face difficulties such as limited positioning accuracy, restricted operating space, vessel movement during lifting, and uneven load distribution. If lifting points are not properly selected or the equipment lacks sufficient control precision, unnecessary impact and localized stress may be transferred to the hull structure.

At the same time, actual working conditions at yacht yards and marinas are often more demanding. Limited working space, varying ground conditions, and water-level changes caused by tides all place greater demands on the equipment’s maneuverability, stability, and ability to adapt to different operating conditions.

To address these requirements, Haitai Heavy Industry carried out targeted design work covering the equipment structure, drive system, steering configuration, safety protection, and lifting arrangement based on the specific requirements of large yacht handling. The resulting 300 ton marine travel lift was developed to support multiple stages of large and ultra-large yacht operations, including manufacturing, launching, maintenance, and yard transportation.

300 Ton Capacity for Full-Process Yacht Handling

The delivered equipment has a rated lifting capacity of 300 tons, providing the capacity required for large and ultra-large luxury yachts. It can be used for a range of operations, including yacht block and section lifting during construction, whole-vessel launching, maintenance at the yard, and internal transportation.

The travel lift is equipped with a fully hydraulic drive system combined with closed-loop synchronous control technology, allowing precise control during lifting and positioning. Even under challenging conditions such as changing tidal water levels and marine wind, the equipment can maintain stable operation, reducing unwanted movement and impact during lifting and providing a smoother lifting environment for the hull.

For large yachts, maintaining balanced loads between the different lifting and support points is particularly important. For this reason, the equipment is fitted with customized lifting attachments, while load analysis and lifting-point optimization are carried out according to the hull structure and specific lifting requirements. This helps distribute the load more evenly across critical areas of the hull and reduces structural risks caused by localized stress concentration.

Multi-Wheel Independent Steering for Greater Maneuverability in Complex Boatyard Conditions

In addition to lifting capacity and positioning accuracy, the equipment’s ability to adapt to the working site is another important consideration in large yacht handling.

The 300 ton marine travel lift features independent multi-wheel steering and hydraulic outrigger adjustment systems, allowing it to perform several operating modes, including in-place turning, crab steering, and chassis leveling. Compared with conventional fixed lifting equipment, its steering and movement are more flexible, enabling it to operate effectively in confined marinas, boatyards, and irregular working areas.

In practical applications, the equipment can carry out large yacht lifting and transportation without requiring extensive modification of the existing worksite. This helps make better use of available yard space while reducing efficiency losses caused by site limitations.

Multiple Safety Systems for Reliable Large-Yacht Lifting

Large yachts are high-value assets with delicate and complex structures, making safety the foremost consideration in lifting operations.

The equipment was designed with the specific safety requirements of large yacht handling in mind. It incorporates more than 20 safety protection functions, including wind-speed warning, anti-tipping monitoring, overload protection, fault self-diagnosis, and zone-based anti-collision interlocking. Together, these systems establish a comprehensive safety framework covering the equipment structure, hydraulic system, electrical controls, and real-time operating monitoring.

The multi-level safety protection system continuously monitors the equipment’s operating status and can take corresponding protective measures when potential risks are detected. This further improves the reliability of the equipment during intensive, long-duration operations and under complex working conditions.

From Customized Design to Full-Machine Commissioning, Haitai Continues to Advance Specialized Heavy Lifting Equipment

From customer working-condition analysis and solution design to equipment manufacturing, full-machine installation, and comprehensive commissioning, the successful completion of this 300 marine travel lift represents another important step in Haitai Heavy Industry’s continued development of customized large-scale lifting equipment.

As the requirements of yacht manufacturing and boatyard operations continue to evolve, Haitai Crane will continue to focus on safety, stability, precision, and site adaptability, further optimizing its equipment and engineering solutions. The company is committed to providing specialized lifting equipment solutions for shipyards, yacht yards, marinas, and marine engineering customers operating under different vessel sizes and working conditions.

The 300 marine travel lift has now completed installation and commissioning at the Haitai Heavy Industry plant and is ready for delivery to the customer for operation. Looking ahead, Haitai Crane will continue to provide the global yacht industry and marine engineering sector with reliable heavy lifting support through specialized equipment and customized engineering services.
